What this tool does

This generator builds a random password from the character sets you enable, using your browser's crypto.getRandomValues API. You control length and character classes, copy the result, and optionally keep a short on-page history for the current session only.

How it works

  1. Choose a length (longer is generally stronger when the password is random).
  2. Enable the character sets required by the target site, or keep a large pool for maximum entropy.
  3. Generate and copy. Refresh to draw a new value.

Privacy and data handling

Generation runs in your browser. createpassword.in does not receive the generated password as part of this tool's workflow. Clipboard contents stay on your device subject to your OS/browser clipboard behavior. Clear the page when finished on a shared computer.

Security considerations (NIST-aligned)

  • Prefer long, unique passwords or passphrases over short complex ones.
  • Do not reuse passwords across sites; a password manager makes uniqueness practical.
  • Screen important candidates with the Password Breach Checker.
  • Enable multi-factor authentication where available.
  • Avoid mandatory periodic password changes unless there is evidence of compromise (a common NIST recommendation).

Practical use cases

  • One-off account signup when your password manager's generator is unavailable.
  • Creating high-entropy secrets to paste into a vault.
  • Meeting a site's remaining composition rules while keeping length high.

Limitations

  • Randomness quality depends on your browser and device CSPRNG.
  • History on this page is convenience only—not secure long-term storage.
  • Character-class checkboxes do not replace uniqueness or breach screening.

Common mistakes

  • Generating once and reusing the same string everywhere.
  • Shortening passwords to ease typing instead of using a manager or passphrase.
  • Emailing or chatting the password in plaintext.
